A Short Trip Out of The Ordinary

I used to tell people that having a baby in a hospital was like going to Club Med for mommies. Where else does a mom get to go and have her pillow fluffed eight times a day, three square meals brought to her bedside (green jello optional) that she didn't have to prepare, ladies waiting on you hand and foot and, hopefully, a cute doctor coming in every few hours asking "how ya doin?" I tell you what, it's the life!
Plus, I actually like hospital food. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy is my favorite. I've had it after the birth of each of my kids, green beans on the side and I'm in heaven!
Today we took Braden to the doctor for his mystery illness and all of it's confusing sypmtoms.
He has an ear infection, {poor guy} not swine flu, thank goodness! As we were coming out of our doctor's office {which is attached to the hospital} we smell the wonderful smells of lunchtime wafting up from the cafeteria below.
I swear all three of our stomach growled in unison, so Ally asked: "Why don't we eat lunch here?" Loving hospital food the way I do {and thinking that it smelled faintly of Meatloaf} I was game!

Braden enjoyed Chicken Strips, Fries, Chocolate Mousse and a Sprite.

Ally and I had Clam Chowder, a few bites of a sandwich, our own Chocolate Mousse and some of Bradens food.

Even though it was Ally's idea she still felt the need to be a little covert, "I bet people will think we are visiting someone in the hospital". Great cover story Ally, cause why would normal people off the street want to eat in a hospital cafeteria?

Sadly there was no Meatloaf, but the Clam Chowder was fantastic! It was such a nice little trip off the beaten path,

I'm thinking of making it a habit!

  2. When I was in the hospital with my babies I lost like five pounds because their food tasted so bad--I would stash like breakfast food that I didn't eat and would eat it for lunch and/or dinner or I'd have J sneak food in :) Also only with my last I didn't have to share a room. Before that I had to share with other ladies with a curtain between us and usually with their "crying" baby so I didn't get any sleep. Sorry :) don't share the same feelings about the hospital as you do but its sure interesting to hear. :) LOL
